2022 Annual Race Division Report
The 2022 Season:
- Numbers were up from the previous year, which was good, but could have been because the first two events of 2021 were cancelled due to the pandemic,
- There were several events that did better than expected and we saw ways to improve from other events,
- We had about 630 entries total for the year, not counting the Vintage Festival weekend and the VARAC one day event at SMP,
- The SMP and the Calabogie events will need help with increasing entries for 2023,
- Ideas and solutions welcome on getting more people to those events, as well as our home track at CTMP. Incentives for those events will be introduced in 2023,
- The first event of the year (BEMC) has lower attendance typically because its so early in the calendar and participants are usually not race ready,
- For 2022, we tried something new by putting F/Classic and F/Libre together and we are still discussing how that worked out,
- The F/Libre grid still has low numbers, and all other grids were healthy for the most part,
- There were updates and changes to improve and streamline Scrutineering,
- We would like as always to Thank our Volunteers,
- We want to thank Mary Lobban who has decided to retire as our Chief Steward. She will be missed and hard to replace,
- A big thank you to all the sponsors including Pirelli, JokerFX, Braidan Tire, Brack,
- For those who registered and ran in the Pirelli GT Sprints Series, we will be handing out the 35,000 dollars in prize money, congratulations to those who won,
- In closing, there are many areas to be improved on. Too many to list but we are working on them, and the more competitors that show up to race, the easier it is to make the plans and put on events.
