Race

Greetings motorsport enthusiasts. Below is information on what's happened in and about Race division in CASC-OR this past month.

APRIL/MAY

As we have done for the past few years CASC had a booth at the 2022 Motorama Show at the International Centre on April 29,30 and May 01. There were large numbers of crowds that came through the show and quite a few people who stopped off to chat about how to get involved in racing in it's various forms. It was also nice to see BARC with a booth right next to ours. Racing was well represented at the event. Thanks to Kari Salo for bringing his bright red F1600 car and Daria Khachi for bringing his BMW Championship winning car. Paul Subject and all the other class Champions were there Saturday for the Night of Champions. We also want to thank Mitchel Sparrow, Peter Dunn and Terry Murphy of Motorsport Marshalling Services. They were fantastic and hopefully managed to get some people interested in marshalling and volunteering in motorsports. Robin Buck was also there chatting about Karting and of course Elizabeth Caruana who was great at luring people to the booth. We got a chance to say a few words over the PA system about what we do as an organization, it was a great way to get the word out. We've been referred to as the best kept secret in racing so it's important we do our best to showcase RACE.

Spring Fling was on that same weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park for those competitors that wanted to do some pre-season testing.

Brack ran the CASC sanctioned race school for those that were interested in getting a license and we heard they had pretty good numbers.

BEMC put on the first race weekend of the season on May 7,8 at CTMP.

We had Pirelli GT Sprints grids 1,2 and 3,4,5. We had F/L and F/Classic as a combined group for the first time. That seemed to work well. Vintage/Historic and VARAC Classic grids rounded it off. Overall a pretty good weekend. Numbers were a bit lower than expected at about 95 entries, but the competition was fierce as always.

Planning for the next event at Shannonville on June 4,5.

JUNE

The VARAC Vintage Festival at CTMP which is happening on June 17,18,19 and the next event after that will be BARC at CTMP on July 23,24.

See you at the track!
