Dear motorsport enthusiasts and Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs members,
By now you likely know that ASN Canada has resigned from the FIA effective 31 December 2019.
After the news was received by the Regions last week the current regional presidents from ARMS, ASQ, CACC, CASC-OR, WCMA and the president of CARS have been working on a plan and structure of a new organization to represent Motorsport in Canada to the FIA.
We had several meetings and came to an agreement in principle about the structure and transparency of the new organisation.
The process involved to become the new Canadian ASN is being set in motion as per FIA statutes and regulations.
We will not know until the FIA makes a decision in the coming months about who will be the next ASN for Canada.
We are also working on continued insurance coverage to have a seamless transition after March 31 2020 when the current master policy between Stoneridge Insurance and ASN Canada FIA expires.
We are in contact with major motorsport stakeholders to gather input and feedback on the proposed new organisation.
It will be important to submit our affiliation application with maximum support of the Canadian motorsport community.
I know many of you may be thinking that you would like to have more information about what is going on and what direction we are going. I can assure you we are doing our best and working hard on a solution that is best for Motorsport in Canada and all the regions.
For now business at CASC-OR as well as all the other regions in Canada will continue as normal. We will share information about progress on our plans as soon as it is reasonable to do so.
Gunter Schmidt
President CASC-OR
