About CASC-OR...
The Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario Region (CASC-OR) can trace its roots back to 1951. The name has changed a couple of times, as well as the geography and structure, but the original purpose, to promote and support grassroots motorsports in Ontario has remained the same.
CASC-OR is made up of 30+ motorsports CLUBS. The clubs are the members of CASC-OR, not individual people. For example, I am a member of VARAC, VARAC is a member of CASC-OR. It is important to understand this, as it drives how the Board of Directors is elected and who they report to...
How the Board is elected
Candidates for Board positions need to be nominated by a club delegate at the Annual Members Meeting (being held Nov 12 this year in person and by video conference). The candidate must be a member of an affiliated club, and remain so for their term if elected. If a candidate cannot attend the meeting then the nominating delegate must provide CASC-OR with a letter from the candidate accepting the nomination and indicating their willingness to serve if elected. It should be noted that quite frequently candidates are acclaimed to their position.
Board positions up for election this year
The following Board positions are up for election this year:
Vice President - 2 year term, this person needs to be ready, willing and able to assume the duties of the President if the President is unable to perform their duties. Time commitment a minimum of 4 hours per month.
Treasurer - 2 year term, directly responsible for the accounting records and reporting for CASC-OR, this person should have financial and accounting experience, as well as access to the office. Time commitment 8 hours per month minimum.
Race Director - 2 year term, this person oversee the operations of the Race Division, including Race Committee and any events that CASC-OR "hosts" directly, as opposed to a club. Time commitment 6 hours per month minimum, significantly more when serving as an Event Secretary

Karting Director - 2 year term, this person oversees the operations of the Karting Division, conducts Karting meetings. Karting is still relatively "new" to CASC-OR and still sorting out what the member clubs want from CASC-OR. Time commitment 6 hours per month minimum.
It should be noted that at the Spring Ice Racing meeting, John Trimble was "selected" as the new Ice Racing Director. His official election will be made at the AMM Nov 12.
