Happy February everyone. Just a quick update of what is happening at CASC-OR this month...
Later today I will be sending out the job posting for a new part-time Office Administrator. Interested persons should send me an email at president@casc.on.ca.
Given that we do not have anyone working in the office right now please use the on-line features at https://members.casc.on.ca to renew your licenses. Sending us paper just slows down the process. Thanks!
Ice Racing is BACK! Brad Elkins, Ice Race Director, advises the 2022 Ice Racing Series at the Minden Fair Grounds got off to a great start last weekend with the Peterborough Motor Sports Club event. The next event is this weekend and you can REGISTER here.
We got some great coverage by the local press - The Highlander. Check it out.
Autoslalom news: I held a Zoom meeting with the Autoslalom clubs Feb 1. The plan is to have another meeting with them in March so we may produce a master calendar of Autoslalom events this summer. We agreed not to plan a regional series, but rather we are hoping to hold a 2 day Regional Championship event in either August or September. As soon as details are available we'll send them out.
Time Attack news: Kevin Wong, the Time Attack Director, reports that the Division is in great shape and eager to hit the track in 2022. Here's their 2022 Schedule - there's an 8 event series planned at 4 different venues.
Karting news: Robin Buck, the Karting Director, is working with the Karting clubs to make sure certifications for this year's Arrive and Drive Programs, as well as club racing series are ready to go. Still relatively new to the CASC-OR family, 2022 will see improved communication and co-operation in the Karting Division. Everyone is looking forward to an exciting year of karting competition.
Race Division news: Ray Arlauskas, the CASC-OR Race Director has posted the 2022 Road Racing Schedule and announced that Race Committee will be meeting next Wednesday via Zoom.
Just a reminder that with no one in the CASC-OR office on a regular basis right now there may be delays in processing Class A and Class B renewals. Please use the on-line renewal system - you'll still have to send medicals (if required for your license), but start your renewal on-line please.
Speaking of medicals, as of today's date, medicals will be required to renew in 2022. Recognizing that some doctors may have limited availability, Paul Subject Regional Chief Instructor, has set up a series of workshops for racers to get a current medical. For more details CHECK THIS OUT.
General news: we are in the process of educating the Board on how to post items to the website, as well as generate content for a possible revival of the CASC-OR newsletter. Remember everyone on the Board is a volunteer and so, on occasion, our day jobs interfere with motorsports... really.
The annual CASC-OR Club Presidents' Meeting will be held March 26 at 10 am. More details to follow. Items of major interest will be details of the 2022 Event Insurance Program, as well as (hopefully) conversion to an electronic waiver system for events. Stay tuned.
There is a lot going on a CASC-OR. With over 30 member clubs, 2000+ club members, not to mention families, crews, and spectators, CASC-OR may be one of the best kept secrets in motorsports. We're going to see if we can do something about that.
Comments, concerns, and ideas you'd like to share? Please feel free to send any member of the Board an e-mail with your thoughts. Here's hoping 2022 returns us to normal...
Sincerely,
Ted Michalos
President
